Been wanting to check out the Jefferson County Illinois Historical Village but the open hours don’t fit your schedule? Call the office and schedule a group tour. Some of our best-trained docents will be happy to open the village buildings and the museum at your convenience.
When a tour is scheduled, we notify a local blacksmith. If possible, one will be on hand to fire up a forge in the Blacksmith Shop. When the tour reaches the forge, the smith will demonstrate the nearly lost art of blacksmithing. It is always a fascinating stop for tourists and tour guides alike.
The village educational benefits attract dozens of student field trips during the school year. Schools travel up to 200 miles to show their students what life was like up to two centuries ago.
