The new displays for 2018 through 2020 are in work at the Schweinfurth Museum.  They will depict area food, clothing, and shelter from the struggle-to-survive days of the first settlers to the relatively easy life of the mid 20th century.

There’s a lot to do and not a lot of time to get it all done.  If you would like to help with the work, stop by the museum Tuesday mornings.  Membership not required – just stop by, get acquainted, and enjoy helping arrange items from the archives to tell the story of mere survival to relative affluence.

We can also use your help in a couple of other ways:

  1. The mannequins we have are too large to display some of the better clothing artifacts. We have located a source of smaller sizes, but they cost $150 each.  If you would like to help with this, you can mail a donation to the office.
  2. The “shelter” part of the display will include a wall of pictures of area houses from the distant past. If you have interesting pictures from your past or your ancestry that you can copy or loan to us for three years, we are interested.  Stop by Tuesday morning or during office hours.
